The Indianapolis Colts addressed several needs during the 2024 NFL Draft, but there are still a few areas that have question marks.
Most notably, the tight end position was one the Colts didn’t address this offseason in any circumstance. It wasn’t an overly productive position, but there are some intriguing players on the depth chart.
The room will look very similar to the one that took the field in 2023 with the likely return of Jelani Woods, who missed the entire season due to nagging hamstring injuries.
That’s why Pro Football Network believes the tight end position is the biggest remaining need for the Colts coming out of the draft.
It was between tight end and cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts, and we went with the former.
Kylen Granson is probably the top tight end on Indy’s roster, and he’s a decent player. But the Colts need an upgrade, as sophomore QB Anthony Richardson would benefit from having a big, reliable target in key situations.
Indy decided not to sign a tight end in free agency nor take one in the draft.
The cornerback position also is a group that will likely need to be addressed next offseason, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they added a veteran to the group.
The only additions in the draft came in the forms of Jaylin Simpson and Micah Abraham—a pair of Day 3 picks who will compete in the slot behind Kenny Moore II.
The tight end position is good enough for the Colts to get by, especially if Woods can stay healthy. But this will be a position to watch as the offseason and regular season progress.
