Their first game tipped off just after noon on Saturday, and WBC came out strong, taking a commanding 15-7 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The defence was on point, with constant traps and pressure keeping the Tipp Talons in check. Deon Fakinle led the charge with eight points, while Daniel Walsh, Sebastian Verba and Filip Martin chipped in with two, three and two points respectively.
Cormac Gallagher and Daniel Walsh put on a defensive clinic, racking up multiple blocks and showing some serious talent.
In the second quarter, the momentum shifted a bit as Tipp Talons turned up the heat on defence.
While Wexford stayed consistent, they were outscored 17-13. A shout-out to Lucas Page-Redmond for his incredible work on the boards and adding two points to keep them in the fight.
Dru O’Connor kept the pace through centre court as Wexford kept driving through the lanes.
Quarter three saw Wexford back in control, with Deon Fakinle continuing to dominate, adding another nine points to the tally.
Sebastian Verba hit a huge three-pointer to extend our lead, and Daniel Walsh’s smooth drive through the lane added two more.
The final quarter saw a full rotation of players, with Darragh Malloy, Marks Koulins, Ben Mythen, Corey Dunne and Cormac Gallagher closing out the game in style.
The defence was locked in, holding the Talons to just four points!
Corey Dunne was on fire, dropping nine points in the fourth quarter alone to seal the deal for Wexford.
The next game is on Sunday, November 10, at 3.15 p.m. at Wexford CBS gym, where they’ll be hosting the Tipperary Talons again.
