ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Virat Kohli silenced his critics against Pakistan in a Champions Trophy 2025 clash as he smashed an unbeaten ton to take India over the line against Men in Green. Kohli did not come into the game on the back of a good run and hence spotlight was on him to see he gets among the runs or not. Kohli did not disappoint as he came up with his best to win the game for the side. In fact, his dominance against Pakistan has also helped him climb up the ODI rankings. Kohli has entered the Top five with his knock. He now has 743 rating points. This is a big jump for arguably the best batter of the generation.
With Kohli now in the Top 5, it means three players from India occupy spots inside the top five, with opener Shubman Gill (first) and skipper Rohit Sharma (third) maintaining their places at the top of the batting rankings courtesy of their own decent hauls at the ongoing Champions Trophy event.
Gill actually increases his lead at the top of the rankings to 47 rating points, with former Pakistan captain Babar Azam still in second despite a lean trot at the Champions Trophy so far.
Kohli is the only player at the Champions Trophy to make any ground inside the top 10 on the list for ODI batters, but there are a host of stars on the outskirts of the top 10 to make inroads on the latest rankings that were updated by the ICC on Wednesday.
With two consecutive wins, Team India has already secured themselves a berth in the semi-final. India still have a group stage game left against New Zealand. That would be a dead-rubber for the side and hence you may see changes in the XI.
