The iconic image of surfer Gabriel Medina on the waves at Paris 2024 has won this year’s World Sports Photography Awards 2025.
More than 13,000 images were submitted by 2,2000 sports photographers from over 96 countries to the annual photography competition, but it was Tahiti’s own Jerome Brouillet who clinched the overall Gold award for his captivating shot.
The photo, titled “Golden Moment,” was taken on the third day of the Olympic men’s competition and captures the three-time world champion pointing skywards in celebration at a successfully completed wave while he seemingly defies gravity.
