I think he – and Red Rookie for that matter – are well handicapped in the 3m handicap chase, especially the former, but this trip does stretch his stamina. No bet.
TAKE NO CHANCES has been raised 11lbs for finishing second to Zain Nights at Newbury and then beating Nicky Henderson’s Hyland at Warwick from a 7lbs lower mark when the pair had the third 14L away.
I thought Hyland would relish underfoot conditions last time, but he was readily brushed aside by the selection who is taken to continue to progress for Dan Skelton. His brother Harry is on paternity leave, so Fergus Gillard takes the ride. Note Zain Nights is now rated 16lbs higher in the weights after his subsequent Cheltenham and Haydock successes.
Henderson saddles City Chief back over hurdles for the first time in two years. He has been particularly badly placed by connections this season, given he wants a sound surface, although I appreciate it was such a long and wet winter.
