Two of USC’s offseason transfer additions made decisions on their NBA futures this week and it’s good news for head coach Eric Musselman and the Trojans. Basketball student-athletes are able to go through the pre-draft process while still maintaining college eligibility.
First, Michigan transfer Terrance Williams II withdrew from the NBA draft on Tuesday. Williams is a 6-foot-7, 240-pound forward who attended the same high school as former USC quarterback Caleb Williams (Gonzaga College in Washington D.C.). Williams declared for the NBA Draft and entered the NCAA transfer portal at the same time in early April. He announced his commitment to USC on April 30.
Williams started 58 games for Michigan over the last two seasons. He averaged 12.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 39.7 percent from three. Williams was the No. 88-rated player overall in the nation for the 2020 class, according to the On3 Industry Rating. He was commitment No. 8 out of the transfer portal for Musselman and USC.
USC will also have the services of Boise State transfer Chibuzo Agbo Jr. The San Diego native spent two seasons at Texas Tech before two more with the Broncos. In 2023, Agbo averaged 13.7 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game and 0.8 assists per game, while shooting 45.2% from the floor and 40.9% from three-point range.
The 6-foot-7, 226-pound Agbo was the No. 99 overall recruit in the 2020 class and a four-star prospect. Agbo initially announced he’d enter the NBA Draft, then subsequently entered the NCAA transfer portal. He announced his commitment to USC on April 22.
Both Williams and Agbo are typical of the type of player Musselman likes on his roster – athletic wings in that 6-foot-7 range who can space the floor.
