Here we are in a brand new year – 2025, a quarter century since the start of the new millennium. It’s wild to think how far we’ve come in tech since 2000, but the next 25 years are poised to be the craziest yet.
And that all starts this year with a ton of new tech gadgets and other products coming to CES in January. Let’s kick it off right here. These are the top tech releases expected in 2025.
NINTENDO SWITCH 2
The next-gen Nintendo Switch is perhaps the most exciting tech release expected in 2025. It’s been years since the popular handheld-console hybrid gaming device was updated.
Any information we have about the Nintendo Switch 2 is purely through rumors or other gleaned data. The newest being a patent that Nintendo filed which includes AI image upscaling. We think the device will also include magnetic Joy-Con controllers and an 8-inch display, up from 6.2 inches.
There’s a strong case for the new Switch to launch by spring 2025.
SAMSUNG XR GLASSES
Samsung is obviously releasing their next smartphone, the Galaxy S25, but it’s the Augmented Reality glasses that we’re really hyped for. Now, they’re not technically augmented reality glasses. Samsung is reportedly calling them extended reality glasses or XR.
The reason they decided to use the XR moniker (other than to set them apart from competition) is because they want people to use them in their everyday activities as an add-on, not an escape. Hence, “extended reality.”
We don’t know if the Samsung XR glasses will make an appearance at CES, but they are rumored to drop sometime in January of this year. If that’s the case we’ll probably see them at the Samsung Unpacked event also happening in January.
APPLE DOORBELL
We reported last week on the Apple doorbell currently being developed by the tech giant. It’s pretty early on in development so we don’t know exactly what it will look like or what it will do, but an Apple product synced up with your doorbell, camera and door lock, means seamless integration of your iPhone and maybe even your Apple Watch.
Imagine using FaceID to unlock your house or maybe even a Bluetooth proximity unlock. Simply walk up to your house with your phone in your pocket and the door magically clicks open. Again, there’s not a lot of information yet, so it may not have these features or even see the light of the day.
It’s not definite that we’ll see the Apple doorbell system hit the market in 2025, but the report says it could be ready by the end of this year at the earliest.
We’ll keep reporting on all new tech releases throughout 2025. You can bet there’s a ton of jaw-dropping tech on its way.
