On July 15, BTS’ Jin made history as the first Korean singer to carry the Olympic Torch overseas. The Moon singer kicked off his historic run as South Korea’s official torchbearer at the Louvre Pyramid Museum in Paris ahead of the upcoming Summer Olympics.
Blackpink will be reuniting for their 8th debut anniversary on August 8! YG Entertainment announced that the girl group would be hosting a offline fansign event to celebrate their debut anniversary. To participate, fans have to leave a special message for the members on Weverse between July 19 to 26. “88 participants who best express their love for BLACKPINK through fan letters, drawings, photos or stories about their precious memories with BLACKPINK will be invited to the fansign,” YG Entertainment shared.
Stray Kids are all set to feature in Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine. The K-pop group will be releasing a new song, Slash, for the highly-waited Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer was revealed. Slash will be released on July 24.
BTS’ Jimin dropped his second solo album MUSE on July 19. The album, which documents the singer’s journey in search of the source of his inspiration, includes seven new songs. A music video for WHO, the album’s title track, was also released.
NewJeans have been accused of plagiarizing British band Shakatak’s Easier Said Than Done for their hit track Bubble Gum. According to a domestic law firm representing the British band, they stated, “The song Bubble Gum, recorded by NewJeans and currently in use, infringes on copyright by incorporating Easier Said Than Done without permission. We have verified this and requested swift action, including ceasing the use of Bubble Gum.” The firm also requested a review of several issues, including halting use, reporting profits, changing the rights holder, providing a written guarantee, and compensating for damages.
In response, ADOR stated, “Bubble Gum has not used Shakatak’s compositions without permission. We request a credible analysis report on this matter.” The label further revealed that they have been promptly responding to the band’s legal team.
