Top Korean News Of The Week: Stray Kids To Feature In Arcane 2, BTS Suga’s Drunk Driving Case Closed Without Trial
The Hallyu world has been abuzz over the last few days! While Stray Kids and Blackpink‘s Jennie announced new music, BTS‘ Suga and former NCT member Taeil’s got some major updates about their ongoing cases.
Blackpink’s Jennie is set to make her highly-awaited solo comeback with a single in October this year. Ahead of the song’s release, the You & Me rapper signed to Columbia Records as a solo artist in partnership with her record label and entertainment company ODDATELIER.
On September 10, Seoul’s Western District Prosecution Office revealed BTS’ Suga had been served a summary indictment. This means the Haegeum rapper was fined based on written documents rather than put on formal trial. With this, Suga’s case has been officially been closed. For the unversed, on August 6, the BTS star was arrested by the police for riding an electric scooter under the influence.
SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan has been appointed as the public relations ambassador for Jeju Island. It’s no surprise that the Still You singer has been appointed for the prestigious position as he is a pure-blooded native of island. Seungkwan’s father belongs to the native Boo clan, while his mother belongs to the Jwa clan, another native clan of Jeju Island.
Stray Kids are set to release an OST for Arcane League of Legends season 2, the animated series based on Riot Games’ League of Legends. The K-pop boy group will be dropping a track titled Come Play with Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko and American guitarist Tom Morello. The OST will reportedly release in November 2024.
On September 13, the Seoul Bangbae Police revealed that former NCT member Taeil’s sex crime case had been forwarded to prosecution without detention. As the case has been sent to prosecution without detention, the K-pop idol will not be arrested before the prosecution decides how to proceed.
