Top Korean News Of The Week: The Korean entertainment industry had a lot on the platter this week. From awards ceremonies to new songs releases and controversies around top stars, a lot happened in the world of K-pop and K-dramas.

Rose from Blackpink dropped the second single from her debut solo album Rosie. Titled Toxic Till The End, the track climbed the charts in no time. An introspective number, it tells the story of a failed relationship. Its music video features the singer along with actor-model Evan Mock.
While the song and its minimalistic production impressed fans, the onscreen chemistry between Rose and Evan became the high pount. However, it was the duo’s surprise lip-lock that took the Blinks by storm. Many speculate that Rose’s real-life broken love story inspired her to make the song.
There seems to be no immediate end to the ongoing feud between NewJeans and ADOR. After the K-pop group terminated its contract with its former agency, staff who were managing their schedule were harassed by ADOR and its parent company HYBE.
Amid the growing clout, the Korean Management Association criticised NewJeans’ decision to walk out of ADOR’s periphery, calling it malicious. They urged careful reconsideration, highlighting the negative impact on pop culture and industry workers.
Byeon Woo Seok and IU have been cast together in an upcoming Korean show temporarily titled Wife of a 21st Century Prince. The announcement of the romance-drama by Kakao Entertainment left fans hugely excited. This comes months after Beyon found stardom with the huge success of Lovely Runner. Interestingly, the two Korean stars were a part of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016).
BTS member V mourned the death of his pet Yeontan aka Tannie. The K-pop idol announced the sad news through his Instagram account. Addressing ARMY directly, he wrote a heartfelt note remembering his dog. V shared a close bond with his seven-year-old pomeranian. He had previously revealed about his pet’s heart condition despite multiple surgeries.
The organising committee for the 39th Golden Disc Awards announced its nominees for the Digital Song Division, Album Division, and Rookie Artist of the Year.
