Leading Queensland jockey James Orman has been taken to hospital after the tip of his finger was bitten off by a horse at trackwork on Tuesday morning.
Orman was attempting to remove a tongue tie when the horse bit down on his finger.

The 27-year-old explained the incident to Punters.
“It just took the tip off when I was putting the tongue tie on,” Orman said.“Definitely felt it and I’m just getting X-rays at the minute.”
Racing HQ host Steve Hewlett added that Orman was waiting to undergo surgery.
“Just spoke with James Orman. Top of his finger was bitten off by a horse this AM,” he tweeted.
“He was removing a tongue tie at the time. Just arrived at hospital. Surgery awaits.”
Hewlett also shared a graphic image of Orman’s finger covered in blood.

Orman holds a comfortable lead in the Queensland Metropolitan Jockeys’ Premiership with 30 winners for the season.
Last year, he finished second to William Pike in the National Jockeys’ Title.
