After a rash of top recruits transferred out of state during the offseason, the top two boys basketball players remaining at Dallas-area schools finalized their college plans over the last four days.
Four-star shooting guard King Grace, who transferred from Waxahachie to Oak Cliff Faith Family in the offseason, committed to Mississippi State on Sunday. The 6-4 Grace is the No. 5 recruit in Texas in the Class of 2025, is rated the eighth-best player at his position in the country, and he lists 14 offers on his recruiting page, including Houston, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and LSU.
Duncanville four-star senior shooting guard Kayden “Bugg” Edwards announced Wednesday that he has committed to TCU. The 6-3 Edwards is the seventh-ranked recruit in Texas in the Class of 2025, is ranked 12th at his position in the country, and he chose TCU over Colorado.
Edwards was a first-team all-area selection, an all-state pick and the District 11-6A co-MVP last season. He averaged 23.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
Grace was an all-state selection and averaged 22 points, 2.1 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals last season while leading Waxahachie to the Class 6A Region II quarterfinals. He joined a Faith Family team that won three consecutive Class 4A state titles before being moved up to 5A this season in realignment by the UIL.
Edwards is the top returnee for five-time state champion Duncanville, which has reached the state tournament four of the last six years. Duncanville lost four-star small forward BJ Davis-Ray, who transferred to JSerra Catholic in California.
Davis-Ray was one of six high-profile recruits from the Dallas area to move out of state this offseason. Most ended up at prep schools.
Four-star small forward Seven Spurlock, a top-100 national recruit in the Class of 2026 who played at Frisco Memorial the last two years, is now at Prolific Prep in California. Link Academy in Missouri added four-star small forward Trent Perry from Frisco Lone Star and four-star guard Keonte Greybear from Frisco Emerson.
Four-star senior center Parker Jefferson transferred from Waxahachie to Inglewood High School in California. Noah Hill, who spent time at Frisco Emerson and McKinney-based Pace Academy, is now at Sunrise Christian in Kansas.
