The 2024-25 high school basketball regular season is coming to a close in California over the next couple weeks. A state routinely loaded with talent, California will have four participants in April’s McDonald’s All-American game.
Here’s a look at 20 top basketball recruits in California’s senior class.
Originallly a member of the 2026 class, Arenas reclassed up prior to the start of this season, paving the way to enter the college ranks next season. The son of NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, the younger Arenas is averaging more than 30 points per game for the third straight year. He recently cut his list of schools down to Kentucky, Arizona, USC, Louisville and Kansas.
Another five-star recruit still on the board in the senior class, Burries is averaging 29 points, nine rebounds and four assists per game this season. Oregon, USC, Duke, UCLA, Arizona, Alabama and Tennessee are among the schools fighting it out for his services at the next level.
Khamenia helped Harvard-Westlake capture the CIF State title last season and has taken over as the go-to guy for the Wolverines this season following the graduation of Trent Perry. Khamenia signed with Duke in the fall and was selected to the McDonald’s All-American game last week.
Yessoufou has averaged at least 26 points per game in all four seasons for the Knights, totaling more than 3,300 career points and more than 1,200 rebounds. A Baylor-signee, Yessoufou is 55 points away from setting California’s all-time scoring record.
A two-sport star who plans to play basketball and baseball at the next level, Blair was the North Costa Section Player of the Year as a junior. He led the Spartans with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists per game in 2023-24.
Rencher is a physical wing who has helped a loaded Riordan team jump out to a 16-1 record this season. He committed to Texas A&M in October, choosing the Aggies over LSU and Washington.
A top 100 player in the 2025 class according to 247Sports, Shaw chose St. Mary’s over Cal and Nevada. Shaw had 18 points in Tuesday’s win over Whittier Christian, helping the Warriors move to 23-3.
Ruff committed to Cal in June, becoming the first member of the 2025 recruiting class in Berkeley. In Wednesday night’s win over Compton, Ruff went for 51 points.
Simmons fits the mold of many San Diego State Aztecs from the past decade. He had 50 points across last week’s three games for the Warriors at the Alaska Airlines Classic in Anchorage.
Mark had a breakout junior season that saw him average 16 points, five rebounds and five assists per game. He chose Rutgers over finalists West Virginia, Seton Hall and USC.
Harrington has been a double-digit scorer in all four seasons for the Braves, averaging 18 points, five assists and four rebounds per game this year. A former Harvard commit, Harrington flipped his commitment to USC just prior to the new year.
Davis-Ray transferred in from Texas for his senior season and has made a major impact on the Lions. The SMU-signee had 23 points in Wednesday’s win over Mater Dei, helping JSerra grab their fourth straight win against the Trinity League power.
Carr paired with Jase Butler as a junior at Branson, forming one of California’s top backcourts. He’s playing his senior season at Redwood following his commitment to Cal early in the fall.
A top contributor in the Trinity League, Washington has helped the Eagles pick up wins over JSerra and St. John Bosco this month. He’ll stay local at the next level, making the short trip to Long Beach State.
One of California’s top unsigned seniors, Cofield led the Trailblazers with 22 points in this week’s Mission League matchup at Harvard-Westlake.
Hightower averaged 16 points per game last season at Windward, leading to an offseason commitment to Iona. Now playing his final season at Sierra Canyon, Hightower is averaging 11 points, five rebounds and four assists per game.
Glass had 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists in last week’s win over Upland to help the Cougars claim the top seed in the Baseline League tournament. He committed to Texas A&M over Stanford in December.
Jefferson made the move from Texas following his junior season and has paired well with five-star junior guard Jason Crowe Jr. The Minnesota-signee is averaging 17 points and 11 rebounds per game.
Perryman has had a very consistent four varsity seasons, averaging between 13 and 16 points each season. Perryman signed with Utah State, choosing the Aggies over several other west coast schools.
Hampton has scored 20 points or more in five of his past seven games, averaging 17 points and six rebounds per game. He’s signed to play at Pacific next season.
