The twin brother combination of Walker and Wesley Maupin both had tremendous performances that gave Gruver a 49-6 Class 2A Division II bi-district win against Morton on Friday night. Walker chewed up the Indians carrying the ball 20 times for 200 yards with three touchdowns. Wesley paved the way for Walker on the offensive line and was a menace on the defensive front making nine tackles including a sack.
Dunavin displayed his versatility during Amarillo High’s 45-14 thumping of previously unbeaten El Paso El Dorado in the Class 5A Division I bi-district round. On the ground, the junior rushed for 164 yards on 15 carries with three scores. Dunavin was equally dangerous out of the backfield catching three passes for 92 yards with a score. Dunavin went over 1,000-yards rushing on the season in the win.
The dual-threat quarterback carried his hot play into the postseason leading Tascosa to a 30-9 win against El Paso Americas during a Class 5A Division I bi-district matchup Thursday night. Fulton ran the option offense to 23 unanswered points piling up 135 yards on 22 carries with a pair of TDs.
Atherton is having an MVP year and not many people know about it. Once again Wheeler’s workhorse was exceptional toting the rock during the Mustangs 44-14 victory against Electra a Class 2A Division II bi-district clash. Atherton galloped to 230 yards on 27 carries scoring all six touchdowns. On the season, Atherton is closing in on 2,000-yards rushing currently sitting at 1,916 yards.
Lopez played a huge role getting Hereford to the second round of the playoffs. In a 28-20 win over El Paso Riverside in the Class 4A Division I bi-district round, Lopez put the Whitefaces on his back scoring all four touchdowns behind 209 yards rushing on 32 carries. On the season, Lopez has tallied 1,489 yards with 16 TDs.
Dominguez showed just how dangerous he could be scoring in a multitude of ways as Canadian rolled by Muleshoe 55-6 in a Class 3A Division II bi-district clash Thursday. Dominguez scored all five Wildcat touchdowns in the first half. The senior opened the barrage with an 87-yard kickoff return. He added two rushing scores and caught a 34-yard TD pass from Clay Kendall. On top of his five-touchdown performance, Dominguez made six tackles to go with an interception on defense.
The Bobcats defense behind Jenkins has been solid all year and proved that once again in a 27-24 victory against Slaton in the Class 3A Division II bi-district round. The senior linebacker and leader of the defense finished the game with 17 tackles, one of those for a loss.
There’s something about playing Lamesa Warren just loves. For the second time this year the senior QB made life miserable for the Tornadoes during a thrilling 23-21 last second victory in the Class 3A Division I bi-district round Thursday night. Warren carried the offense carrying the ball 29 times for 177 yards rushing scoring all three River Road touchdowns.
Meeks, or better known in Follett by his nickname “WID”, took matters into his own hands as the Panthers pummeled Paducah 64-22 in the Class 1A Division II bi-district round. The Follett Swiss Army Knife finished the game with 19 carries for 270 rushing yards with five touchdowns. Meeks also caught three passes for 68 yards with two more TDs.
Happy won its fifth straight Class 1A Division I bi-district championship blasting Wildorado 60-14 at home Friday. King made sure to do his part and then some by chewing up the Mustang defense for 192 yards on 14 carries with three touchdowns.
