The 2024 NFL season features a slew of talented quarterbacks. From prolific pocket passers to dual-threat signal-callers, this year’s quarterbacks are poised for primetime.
Here are the top 10 quarterbacks for the 2024 season.
1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Is this even debatable? No quarterback has come close to Mahomes. He is at the helm of the Kansas City dynasty and the Chiefs will likely be back in the Super Bowl this year to complete the three-peat. Mahomes showcased his unmatched talent in the Thursday Night Football showdown against the Baltimore Ravens. He threw phenomenal passes, evaded the Baltimore defense, and led eloquent drives.
2. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Allen utilizes his frame and tremendous arm talent to direct the Buffalo offense. He’s a certified gunslinger and he isn’t afraid to take risks. The new Bills wide receiver corps has yet to establish themselves as elite playmakers; however, with a quarterback like Allen, they’re poised for success. Allen has yet to crack the code to get past the Chiefs, but then again, who really has?
3. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
The talent gap was palpable between Jackson and Mahomes in the Thursday Night Football showdown. The Ravens fell short 27-20 after Isaiah Likely’s touchdown was ruled out of bounds. Jackson missed several clutch throws in the minutes that mattered most. Although Jackson is a two-time MVP, it’s evident his athleticism hasn’t helped him in the most important moments. Nevertheless, he’s still a top-three quarterback.
4. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
Burrow has struggled to stay healthy for the majority of the last two seasons, but when he is in full form he’s dangerous. Burrow throws with finesse and accuracy. He remains calm in nail-biting situations, a quality that all winning quarterbacks must possess.
5. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Despite winning a Super Bowl, Stafford is highly underrated. He’s in his sixteenth year in the NFL, but when healthy, keeps up with the best and brightest passers in the league. His performance this year will likely dictate his future with the Rams.
6. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
This is an important year for Hurts, following a poor 2023 season. He makes big plays and has the ability to run when he needs to. However, he hasn’t been able to bring Philadelphia a championship. This season is an opportunity for him to cement himself into NFL history.
7. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
Herbert is another underrated quarterback. He’s given fans strong performances each season, but because the Chargers never make the playoffs, people forget about him. He has the exact build of a typical NFL passer and a phenomenal arm. The new era of Chargers football might finally be able to showcase Herbert’s talent.
8. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
Purdy is the best quarterback that came out of his draft class. He’s led the 49ers to back-to-back NFC Championship appearances, but he still doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Winning a Super Bowl may not even be enough to silence his critics.
9. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Prescott is a successful quarterback but struggles to find success in the postseason. He’ll have to prove to fans and his team that he’s the right man for the job this season.
10. C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans
Despite being one of the younger quarterbacks in the league, Stroud resembles a fairly seasoned passer. He is poised to have another phenomenal year.
