WINCANTON
Drifting in the market but this mare coming into this for her hurdle debut is open to progress for a top yard, in Paul Nicholls.
Harry Cobden’s up which only improves her chances and it’s such an open contest against mares with either nothing to shout about on hurdle form or equally no experience over hurdles yet.
It may just come down to how well they cope with the going and could be a tough slog for some.
But the way Chique Angel looked on her last start she could thrive over this step up in trip if taking to hurdles well.
Ioupy Collonges has already shown he’s a good winner and got off the mark over fences over 3m+ last time out when winning nicely ahead of Stans The Man.
He can be prone to the odd mistake but the experience of the last three chases you can see he’s getting better and better.
Despite the mistakes he’s often up there at the finish shows a lot of determination in the closing stages which is always a great sign of a horse wanting to win.
He was unfortunate on his first two chase starts to bump into what turned out to be two very good chasers in Martator and Chianti Classico.
Placing second to Rock My Way in November was also encouraging.
It’s said he should go well on this ground and though I’m not totally convinced he thrives on heavy, I’m confident he’s a good stayer and a chaser that continues to improve.
Montgomery could be the danger if it comes to a stamina test and he’s shown form on soft and went close at Sandown over 3m4f in December.
Perhaps his next race just came too quick as he pulled up with Venetia Williams unsure of what went wrong that day when favourite.
This gelding has been favourite four times in his last five chase starts winning two of those, failing to justify the odds in his last two in Class 2 handicap chases.
He goes down 2lb for the last two placings so makes plenty of appeal if bouncing back from a poor performance last time out.
There might not be much to choose between the two mentioned, making it a great forecast bet.
