However, one of the biggest talking points in recent years was a long affair between Team India head coach and a top Bollywood actress. We are talking about the relationship between former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri with Bollywood star Nimrat Kaur.
According to a daily tabloid newspaper, Mumbai Mirror, Shastri and Nimrat Kaur dated for over two years between 2015 and 2018. The couple were the brand ambassadors of luxury car brand Audi and made regular media appearances together during events organized by the company.
“We hear the two have been dating rather discreetly for over two years. It’s also probably more than a coincidence that both Shastri and Nimrat have been roped in by a German luxury carmaker to launch its cars every year since 2015,” the Mumbai Mirror report stated.
Both Shastri and Nimrat Kaur regularly denied the rumours with the former calling it the ‘biggest load of cow dung’.
Speaking to Mid-Day during India’s tour of England in 2018, the former India all-rounder reacted to it by saying ‘biggest load of dung’. “Nothing to say when it is the biggest load of cow dung,” Shastri was quoted as saying by Mid-Day. “Cow dung says it all,” former India head coach had said.
“When I say cow dung, you must understand,” Shastri had responded, when he was quizzed about his last meeting with the actress by the tabloid three years ago.
This is not the first time that Shastri has been linked to a Bollywood actress. According to Filmfare magazine, the former India all-rounder was rumoured to be dating Bollywood star of the 1980s – Amrita Singh, before her marriage to Saif Ali Khan.
According to the Bollywood gossip magazine, Shastri and Amrita Singh had even been spotted getting cozy at a restaurant in New York. The relationship was so strong that there were rumours that couple may also get married.
But Shastri was later quoted as saying, “I definitely don’t want an actress wife. I am chauvinistic. Her home should be her first priority”.
After his split with Amrita Singh, Shastri got married to Ritu Singh in 1990. Ritu was a trained classical dancer as well as a doctor and kept a low profile till her divorce with the for India head coach.
Shastri got married to Ritu Singh in 1990 and the couple finally filed for divorce back in 2012. After few years after that, Shastri started secretly dating Nimrat Kaur.
But ‘The Lunchbox’ actress also denied the rumours. “Fact: I may need a root canal. Fiction: Everything else I read about me today. Shastri has one daughter with Ritu Singh – Aleka Shastri – born 18 years after their marriage in 2008.
