In what comes as a surprising development, Japan has surpassed Thailand to become a top choice for tourists, all around the globe. It is gearing up to host 35 million tourists this year – same as Thailand’s current numbers.
The main reason for this development can be Japan’s depreciated currency and advanced infrastructure.
According to reports, during the first 11 months of 2024, Japan hosted over 33.3 million international tourists, surpassing its 2019 record of 31.8 million. Meanwhile, Thailand welcomed 32 million tourists during the same period – showcasing steady growth at a slower pace. Now, it is on track to close 2024 with a total of 35 million visitors.
