The pandemic days may be behind us but we’re still seeing the impacts on our lifestyle even in 2025. Piggy-backing off the ‘work from home’ trend, ‘remote personal training’ continues to be huge, positively impacting both trainers and trainees. Working with a personal trainer remotely means more people can access tailored training advice, in a format and time that suits them. And we get it—everyone is busy so it’s not always possible to commit to a scheduled gym sesh every single week.
The Hyrox workout format is back for another year, topping the fitness trends in 2025. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s kind of like CrossFit. It includes eight different exercise stations with a one kilometre run in between each set. This cross-functional type of training has been hugely popular as it’s perfect for all types of fitness levels. There’s also no specialist skills required to get involved and it’s incredibly varied so you’re not just running on a treadmill for 45 minutes.
One of the biggest fitness trends to come out of TikTok is ’30-30-30′, and it’s still just as popular moving into 2025. Made famous by TikTok creator and biologist Gary Brecka, the trend or ‘rule’ actually got its start in 2010 in the book ‘The Four Hour Body’. It basically states you should begin by eating 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking up, followed by 30 minutes of low-intensity exercise.
Something a little, er, primal for 2025 is the emergence of ‘quadrobics’. Mimicking animal-like movements, this fitness trend is a full body work out done on all fours. Borrowing manoeuvres from the likes of dogs, gorillas and even horses, it’s a combination of aerobics and callisthenics that involves jumping, crawling and trotting. As the name suggests, this targets the quadricep muscles and doesn’t require any equipment so it’s great for anyone to try.
Kind of leaning into remote personal training, virtual fitness is also set to be huge this year. Think online classes—both live and pre recorded for workouts like pilates, barre, yoga, cardio and strength training. For the most part, all you’ll need is internet connection and maybe a few props like a mat or some dumbbells to get the same burn you would ordinarily get from the gym. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, VR technology (you know those clunky looking headsets) would also fall into this category.
Okay, hear us out on this one. It may sound a little bit daggy but stroller fitness—workouts that utilise a baby stroller—was Googled a bunch of times in the last year. These days, you’ll find a whole heap of strollers that are specifically designed to sit your baby while also allowing for easy running and exercise. It kind of makes sense, right? Instead of leaving your little one in care, parents are making the most of outdoor time with bub while getting some extra steps in.
