As the weather warms in Europe, locals will flock to the islands or coast to soak up the sun. Those from the Southern Hemisphere will also head north to escape the cold. And if swimming in salt water and spending countless hours lying on a beach is what you crave, why not do it at one of the best beaches in Europe? Afterall, you deserve the best.
Tripadvisor has revealed its 2024 Traveller’s Choice Best of the Best Awards for Beaches in Europe. The online travel agency’s Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best titles are ‘awarded to destinations and locations that receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over 12 months’. Out of around 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieved this milestone, so it’s an impressive feat.

The list included 25 top picks that included beaches from all around the continent, with Spain, Greece and Italy beaches being featured the most. But neither of those countries took out the top spot.
Praia da Falesia in Portugal’s Algarve was crowned the best beach in Europe. The stunning stretch of beach came in sixth last year and has racked up 5,900 reviews to date, 68% of which are five star ratings.
Tripadvisor said the world winning beach is ‘known for its dramatic red, sandy cliffs and can be reached by a wooden staircase’, adding: ‘It is beloved by Tripadvisor reviewers for its soft, powdery sand, perfect for sunbathing and strolls.’
In second place was Italy’s Spiaggia dei Conigli, also known as Rabbit beach, which can be found on the south west coast of Sicily. Taking out third is Spain’s La Concha Beach in Basque Country in San Sebastian.
