New York Fashion Week still brings out all the A-List Hollywood stars to sit front row at the season’s hottest shows, but the tides seem to be turning, and this year, some of the most talked about athletes of the year showed up in droves and getting their rightful place in the fashion world. Athletes have always had an influence on fashion, and the current stars are proof of that.
Fresh off of the Olympics, which concluded in Paris, France last month, Olympians like Simone Biles, Suni Lee and Jordan Chiles made their way to New York this week to be present at various fashion shows and events that took place all around the city.
WNBA and NBA stars like Kysre Gondrezick and Jaylen Brown, who were also the best dressed couple of the week, rained down on NYC showing that they look even better outside their basketball sneakers and gear.
The sports stars also wore some of the best footwear of the week, opting for Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger and beyond. Check out some of FN’s choices for the most standout and fashion-forward athletes at New York Fashion Week 2024.
Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee did not miss a beat at this year’s NYFW. She was spotted at shows for Tommy Hilfiger, Off-White, Tory Burch, Jonathan Simkhai and Brandon Maxwell and was seated in the front row. Her choice of footwear ranged from tall leather boots to classic pointed pumps, and for the Michael Kors show at The Shed on Sept. 10 she wore a gray suit with a blazer and shorts and paired it with a pair of classic black leather pumps.
Kysre Gondrezick turned heads at the NYFW this year. She stunned at the Sergio Hudson show in an all brown body suit and corset ensemble and gold strappy pointed sandals and a headscarf. She was also at the Prabal Gurung Fashion Show on Sept. 7 wearing a black and white off the shoulder dress. It was Look 13 from the designer’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, which she paired with black tights and black slingback pumps.
She was also spotted with her boyfriend, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown. The couple suited up to attend the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion show on Sept. 8. She wore a structured brown blazer with gold accents and navy blue trousers and paired the look with gold platform sandals. He wore a fitted blazer and pin-striped pants along with black leather dress shoes.
Simone Biles may not have hit any fashion shows during NYFW but she was in New York, stopping by The Tonight Show and the 2024 US Open. She did attend the Kate Spade New York 3rd Annual Global Summit on Women’s Mental Health at Times Center on Sept. 5 in New York City sporting the brand’s Maritza leopard-printed pumps. She paired the animal print shoes with a black Fall Garden Midi Dress in black, which included a plunging neckline, flared-out hemline and a drop waist.
No one has had a better week than Jordan Chiles. She attended the LaQuan Smith and Luar shows, as well as threw the first pitch at a Mets game, attended the US Open and paid a visit to the Empire State Building. The Olympic gymnast also walked the runway during the Kim Shui show on Sept. 7. For her best look of the week, she attended Marie Claire US’ 30th anniversary and Bloomingdale’s launch of From Italy With Love at Bloomingdale’s on Sept. 10. She wore a pair of the Gianvito 105 pumps by Gianvito Rossi in a bright red hue. The shoes consisted of a sleek 105mm stiletto heel and a statement pointy toe, which she paired with a stunning two-piece black skirt and top ensemble.
Aly Raisman took full advantage that so much was taking place in NYC this week and she bounced around attending multiple events. She attended the Prabal Gurung Fashin Show on Sept. 7 wearing a pair of strappy thong sandals with a velvet form-fitting mini dress. She paired the look with a “Mean Girls” inspired handbag. She also attended the Jonathan Simkhai fashion show, TIME100 Women’s Leadership Forum at Chelsea Piers and the US Open.
Paige Bueckers stayed true to her style when she attended the Who Decides War fashion show during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 7 in New York City. The basketball star wore an outfit from the brand, including embellished jeans and a crewneck. She also was spotted at the US Open and other events in NYC throughout the week.
Jordan Clarkson represented for the men at NYFW this year. He attended the Tommy Hilfiger RTW Spring 2025, which was held aboard the Staten Island Ferry the MV John F. Kennedy on Sept. 8. He wore a pair of slip on leather dress shoes in black with burgundy socks, khaki pants and a varsity jacket by the brand. Clarkson also suited up for the Ralph Lauren fashion show, which took place at Khalily Stables in The Hamptons on Sept. 5.
Jayson Tatum sat front row at the Coach RTW Spring 2025 show at The High Line on Sept. 9. The NBA star paired a pair of plaid pants with the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low x Travis Scott ‘Phantom’ sneaker and a black leather jacket.
Gabrielle Thomas left her running shoes at home when she headed to NYFW. The Olympic track and field athlete attended the Carolina Herrera RTW Spring 2025 on Sept. 9 wearing a pair of floral print pumps with a soft white dress and a green handbag that perfectly complemented the greenery found in shoes. She was also at the Tommy Hilfiger show wearing a pair of trendy Mary Jane flats.
Azzi Fudd attended the Who Decides War fashion show on Sept. 7. She attended alongside her UConn Huskies teammate Paige Bueckers and paired a long denim skirt with a slit down the center with chunky black boots and a green structured top from the brand.
