The regular season has come to a close for girls high school basketball across the Lone Star State, and the boys regular season slate enters its final week.
The postseason starts on Monday for girls basketball teams in the area, with the boy’s slate kicking off on Feb. 17.
On the girls side, Bushland claimed second place in District 1-3A after taking down Canadian, Dalhart and River Road to end the season, causing a three-way tie for the district title between the Lady Wildcats, Lady Wolves and Lady Falcons.
Circumstances were similar in District 3-5A, where Amarillo High, Monterey and Tascosa tied for the league crown after the Lady Rebels took down AHS, who in turn defeated the Lady Plainsmen. Chis Sumrall’s team won the coin flip to determine seeding, with Tascosa earning a top seed in the UIL Class 5A Division I playoff bracket.
Additionally, Canyon, Panhandle and Valley’s squads will head into the postseason after maintaining unbeaten records in district play, seemingly poised for deep playoff runs.
On the boys side, both Amarillo High, Randall, Gruver, Panhandle, McLean, Nazareth and Valley have clinched their district crowns with their final regular season games still looming.
