The action continues today in Dubai, Doha and Rio de Janeiro as several of the world’s best players take to the court.

19:42 CET – The next big-name exit this evening comes from third seed Coco Gauff (20) losing in straight sets to fellow American McCartney Kessler (25) who won 6-4, 7-5.

19:16 CET – Novak Djokovic’s (37) time in Doha has come to a swift end after losing his opening match against Matteo Berrettini (28) in straight sets! It is the first major shock of the week and a big one as the Australian Open semi-finalist and third seed goes crashing out to someone he had never lost to before today. 

Berettini’s powerful serve was a weapon throughout and Djokovic was well off the pace on his own serve, resulting in the Italian winning 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

18:36 CET – On the men’s side in Doha, Felix Auger-Aliassime (23) has come from a set down to beat Quentin Halys (28) after a hard-fought deciding set tie-break 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).

Felix suffered a setback in Rotterdam retiring from his first match of the tournament but his confidence should still be high having won the ATP event in Marseille earlier this month. 

18:20 CET – Over to Doha and the world number two Iga Swiatek (23) has made no mistake progressing after cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 win over former world number one Victoria Azarenka (35).

17:14 CET – Daniil Medvedev (29) – the fourth seed in Doha – has seen off world number 21 Karen Khachanov (28), but not after a two-and-a-half-hour battle. He won the game 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to advance into the next round.

16:40 CET – The rain has ceased in Dubai and play is back underway with Iga Swiatek (23) on court, but we have a result from Dubai where Tallon Griekspoor (28) has dispatched Jan-Lennard Struff (34) in a tight one 7-6(5), 7-6(7).

16:08 CET – Doha’s fifth seed Andrey Rublev (27) is through to the next round after defeating Alexander Bublik (27) in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

Meanwhile, in a surprisingly rainy Dubai, Jasmine Paolini (29) has managed to dodge the showers and win the one point she needed to beat Eva Lys (23) 6-2, 7-5.

14:22 CET – Second seed Alex de Minaur (26) has progressed in Doha, with the Aussie seeing off the challenge of Roman Safiullin (27) in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5.

Nuno Borges (27) and Luca Nardi (21) are also through to the next round after convincing victories over Otto Virtanen (23) and Zhizhen Zhang (28) respectively.

11:25 CET – Talented Czech Linda Noskova (20) is through to the last 16 in Dubai after battling past Diana Shnaider (20) in a three-set thriller, 7-6(8), 4-6, 6-3.

10:57 CET – Rain has temporarily halted play at the WTA 1000 event in Dubai, with Jasmine Paolini (29) one game away from victory against Eva Lys (23) and fifth seed Jessica Pegula (30) taking on Luidmila Samsonova (26).

09:38 CET – Sixth seed Elena Rybakina (25) has eased through in Dubai, sweeping aside Moyuka Uchijima (23) 6-3, 6-2 in just 66 minutes.

It was an equally comfortable morning for the resurgent Paula Badosa (27), who made light work of Elise Mertens (29), winning 6-2, 6-1.

09:15 CET – There were a couple of notable results overnight in Rio as qualifier Chun Hsin Tseng (23) stunned third seed Alejandro Tabilo (27) 6-2, 7-5 and Jaume Munar (27) saw off home favourite Thiago Seyboth Wild (24) 6-4, 3-6, 6-0.

08:34 CET – Play is already underway in Dubai this morning, with defending champion Jasmine Paolini (29), Elena Rybakina (25) and Paula Badosa (27) all in early action. 

It’s a blockbuster day at the WTA 1000 event as the world’s top three players – Aryna Sabalenka (26), Iga Swiatek (23) and Coco Gauff (20) – all take to the court a little later on.
