Warner on BBL finals birth | 04:16
1. DAVID WARNER — SYDNEY THUNDER
346 runs @ 57.66 (142.38 SR)
He’s one of the world’s most destructive batters and upon his full-time return to the BBL with the Thunder, David Warner delivered.
The Aussie veteran belted 346 runs at an average of 57.66 at the top of the order for the Sydney franchise in green, lifting them from the BBL trenches to the finals in only one season.
What’s more is he scored his three half-centuries with a strike rate of 142.38, moving quickly while often anchoring the Thunder’s innings.
2. MITCH OWEN — HOBART HURRICANES
308 runs @ 38.5 (186.66 SR)
Mitch Owen emerged as a genuine breakout star when he belted a staggering 101 not out against the Scorchers.
Prior to that innings, Owen had managed only 89 runs in 14 previous T20 appearances, scoring his century in inly 63 balls.
That innings helped him to be the competition’s third-highest run scorer, becoming a mainstay for the top-of-the-table Hurricanes.
3. COOPER CONNOLLY — PERTH SCORCHERS
351 runs @ 50.14 (131.46 SR)
A star was born in BBL14.
Cricketing fans were treated to several batting masterclasses by Cooper Connolly this season, with the rising star finishing the tournament as the top run-scorer.
The 21-year-old consistently anchored the Scorchers’ innings and was one of their only shining lights in a disappointing season, earning himself selection in Australia’s Test squad for their tour of Sri Lanka.
Interestingly, despite averaging an impressive 50.14, Connolly’s top score was only 56, finishing the innings not out on three occasions.
4. GLENN MAXWELL — MELBOURNE STARS
297 runs @ 59.4 (194.11 SR)
A truly impressive campaign from Glenn Maxwell, whose batting heroics lifted the Stars from an 0-5 start to their tournament to a place in the finals.
Capping off a season which saw him finish as the fourth-highest run scorer, the Stars needed to beat the ladder-leading Hurricanes to book a place in the top four in their final clash.
Continuing a ridiculous run of form, Maxwell belted 76 from 32 balls to help his Melbourne outfit to 5/219, with that innings coming after scores of 90 and 58 not out.

5. TIM DAVID — HOBART HURRICANES
229 runs @ 45.8 (172.18 SR)
Tim David was instrumental in the Hurricanes’ first-placed finish in BBL14, belting two fifties in an impressive campaign.
David was dangerous for Hobart during the power surge, scoring a staggering 103 runs off only 37 balls, the most of any player in the competition.
He hit eight sixes in the surge, striking at 278.38 in the two-over period across BBL14, again, the highest strike rate of any batter.
6. TIM SEIFERT — MELBOURNE RENEGADES
200 runs @ 22.22 (122.69 SR), 12 dismissals
Tim Seifert proved to be a hit for the Renegades, delivering some solid performances for the Melbourne outfit in red that failed to make the finals.
The Kiwi wicketkeeper tallied 12 dismissals in his 10 games, the second most of any wicketkeeper, while also being the 18th top run scorer.
Seifert tallied one half century, which came in his first BBL innings, but the back-end of his campaign was a slow one, with two ducks in his last four digs.
7. JAMIE OVERTON — ADELAIDE STRIKERS
191 runs @ 95.5 (156.55 SR), 11 wickets @ 27.72 (9.63 RPO)
The Strikers’ English import proved to be a tough competitor in BBL14, delivering with both bat and ball.
The 30-year-old was a key finisher for the Adelaide outfit, averaging 95.5 after finishing the innings unbeaten on an impressive seven occasions.
He also took 11 wickets, the 11th most of any player, with his best figures of 2/27 coming against the Hurricanes who finished atop the BBL ladder after the regular season.
8. BEN DWARSHUIS — SYDNEY SIXERS
12 wickets @ 23.41 (8.73 RPO), 100 runs @ 33.33 (178.57 SR)
While Ben Dwarshuis sits seventh for most wickets, and 46th in the runs leaderboard, the Sixers gun delivered a handful of matchwinning performances in BBL14.
He scored an unbeaten 20 not out to stun the Thunder in a cross-town derby, having already taken two wickets in that match.
Meanwhile, his 4/32 against the Heat proved crucial in the 15th match of the tournament, dismissing three of the top seven in that game.

9. TOM ROGERS — MELBOURNE RENEGADES
16 wickets @ 19.12 (8.42 RPO)
Tom Rogers finished with the second-most wickets of any player in BBL14, taking 16 scalps in his 10 appearances for the Renegades.
His best figures of 3/22 came against the Scorchers, while he also took three wickets in the Gades’ rout of the Hurricanes in their second game of a disappointing BBL campaign.
Alongside his impressive wicket haul, Rogers was also able to deliver with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 49 in an impressive win against Perth alongside captain Will Sutherland.
10. MARK STEKETEE — MELBOURNE STARS
15 wickets @ 8.6 (6.97 RPO)
Why wasn’t he picked sooner?
Mark Steketee didn’t feature for the Stars until 2025 rolled around, but in only five appearances he’s taken an impressive 15 wickets to sit third on the bowling leaderboard.
Steketee has taken the new ball in Melbourne’s impressive surge into the finals, delivering career-best T20 figures of 5/17 against the Renegades in the cross-town derby.
He then followed that performance up with an impressive 4/24 against the Hurricanes in the Stars’ must-win clash.
11. JASON BEHRENDORFF — PERTH SCORCHERS
17 wickets @ 17.41 (7.55 RPO)
Jason Behrendorff finished atop the BBL14 bowling rankings, taking 17 wickets at the handy average of 17.41.
The Scorchers talisman did everything he could to help his side to a finals appearance, bowling conservatively with an economy of 7.55.
However, it wasn’t enough to see the Perth outfit finish in the top four, missing out for only the third time in the franchise’s history.
Behrendorff’s best figures came against the Strikers in the Scorchers’ final appearance of the season.
