To say Super Screener is hot this summer is an understatement.
One week after picking against odds on Arabian Lion in the San Diego and cashing 3-1 win and 39-1 exacta wagers, Super Screener fired right back last week with a 10-1 winner in the California Dreamin Stakes.
So of course we’re going to stay where the turf meets the surf for this week’s pick, but don’t let that fool you into thinking there is not great information available for all the top stakes this weekend, including all the Grade 1 action on Sunday from both Colonial Downs and Saratoga.

As for the Sorrento, this Grade 3 for 2-year-old fillies on Saturday at Del Mar attracted just five horses, and while the field is short on size, Super Screener’s Mike Shutty thinks it can be long on value with Vodka With a Twist at 6-1 morning line.
“Vodka With a Twist will likely see them all early, but should be within three lengths of the pace,” Shutty writes. “As these babies take on more ground, all-out speed becomes secondary to a balanced Energy Distribution Profile. Vodka With a Twist exemplifies the type of filly who will come out victorious in these types of two-year-old stakes as the year progresses.
“She already has a win at this distance, and – more importantly – has shown an ideal balance in how she distributes her energy. She’ll just sit off the pace and when other fillies are tiring, she’ll just be getting going.”
Every race in Super Screener includes picks, analysis and wagering strategy. Shutty keeps the strategy pretty simple in this race given the small field: suggesting a win bet on Vodka With a Twist and a backup exacta using Nooni.
