It’s the time of year for the NFL to release its “Top 100 Players of 2024” list, as voted by current players. The league revealed Nos. 100-81 on Monday, and one Steeler was among those honored, with veteran defensive tackle Cam Heyward landing at No. 98.
Heyward is no stranger to the list, but this year does mark a drop from his No. 45 ranking in 2023. This year, he ranks above Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David (No. 99) and Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin (No. 100).
The defensive captain and current Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year had a down year last season by his high standards, recording 33 total tackles and two sacks. He played in only 11 games due to an early season groin injury.
Still, Heyward remains one of the most well-respected players in the league and a name to watch on the Pittsburgh defense. However, he and the team still have an unresolved contract disagreement that looks to drag into training camp, with the longtime defender on the last year of his deal entering the new season.
