Xander Schauffele landed his second major of 2024 when winning the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon by two shots after a closing six-under-par 65.
In adding to his PGA Championship win, the 30-year-old completed a clean sweep of major titles for American golfers in 2024, and became the first player since Brooks Koepka in 2018 to win two majors in the same year.
Speaking after lifting the Claret Jug, Schauffele said: “I’ve always dreamt of winning the Open Championship. That walk up 18 truly is the coolest thing, with the yellow leaderboards and the fans and the standing ovation. It really is one of the best feelings I’ve ever had in my life. It’s taken me forever just to win one major, so to have two now is something else.”
Schauffele is a Callaway staff professional and used 12 of the brand’s clubs to triumph over the field at Royal Troon, including a Paradym Ai Smoke driver and Chrome Tour ball, which he has used since the season-opening event in Hawaii, earning 12 top-10 finishes already in 2024.
Schauffele has added over 4mph of ball speed off the tee with this driver/ball combination and is averaging 305 yards with his driver with a ball speed of 183mph this season. He is second on the PGA Tour this year in Strokes Gained: Total and third in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green.
Schauffele’s bag also includes a 52° Callaway Opus Wedge, which officially launched at retail this week.
