NEW YORK — As its basketball team competes against a top-10 opponent on the court at Madison Square Garden, Rutgers saw its football program earn a massive win in the stands.
The Scarlet Knights earned a commitment from Jaylen McGill, a four-star running back in the 2026 class, on Saturday. The South Carolina native announced his decision from the stands at MSG, where he is attending the Scarlet Knights’ matchup against No. 8 Michigan State as part of an unofficial visit.
McGill committed to Rutgers over a litany of elite schools pursuing him, from home state schools South Carolina and Clemson to SEC powers Alabama and Tennessee.
