QUEEN OF THE PRIDE (3.00 Haydock, nap)
Her sire Roaring Lion was a great on the track — winning four Group Ones — and she looked a chip off the old block when going close in a hot contest at Goodwood last time. That was just her third trip to the racecourse after a quiet start at Newmarket and maiden win at Leicester last season. She was coming back from seven months off in that Listed contest on the Downs where the soft ground didn’t look ideal. So it was a good effort to finish well into second despite looking a little green on that tricky track. This quicker going and galloping course will be right up her street and there’s loads more to come with Oisin Murphy taking over from Rab Havlin in the saddle.
OVER SPICED (2.05 Beverley, nb)
She showed lots of speed when winning at Leicester last time and the second and third from that race have scored since. This decent ground will suit and she can take a big step forward under Yorkshire jockey Joanna Mason.
LIVE IN THE DREAM (1.50 Haydock, treble)
He looked as good as ever on comeback last time out and can strike. Trainer Adam West admitted his star wasn’t fully wound up and he will have too much zip on his favourite faster ground.

LIVE IN THE DREAM had the time of his life last season, winning the Group 1 Nunthorpe at York before running a cracker at the Breeders’ Cup in the States.
He was a close second on comeback here in the Temple Stakes and is hard to fault down in class.
Democracy Dilemma goes on any ground and was speedy enough to finish second in the Epsom Dash last weekend. That was a fine effort and repeat would see him right on the premises again.
Commanche Falls is coming down in grade and took a York Listed race last season. He is better over six furlongs but enjoys Haydock so could figure.
A longer trip would be ideal for Believing too after his close third in the Sprint Cup here in September. His class can take him close.
Pink Crystal would be dangerous for William Haggas if wound up for this comeback.

DIVINA GRACE came back from a break to finish a close-up third at Goodwood last time.
It was all the better as she was up with a breakneck pace and managed to keep going. This trip on decent ground are ideal and there’s more to come.
Knightswood came right back to form when third at Doncaster last time. He had a lot of ground to make up late and finished well. He can figure off the same mark.
Maghlaak has plenty of good form over ten furlongs and the first-time blinkers can help him see out this longer distance.
Iron Lion had traffic problems when beaten at Newmarket last time. He is better judged on his good win at Doncaster last month and can figure even off this 8lb higher mark.
Struth’s falling mark gives him an each-way shout.

QUEEN OF THE PRIDE went close at Goodwood trying this trip for the first time. She was back from seven months off so will improve for the run and has a lot more to come.
Sapphire Seas has been doing well over 1m2f at Group 2 level and went for home too early at York last time. This longer trip will help and she is dangerous.
Lady Boba hasn’t done a lot wrong and won a big-field Listed race in France last time out in November.
She is proven over this trip and ran well on quick ground at Newmarket in October. She’s a big danger.
Sea Theme is worth a market check on comeback as she had some smart form last season.
Scenic was an impressive winner on the sand last time and has place claims with trainer Ed Walker in fine form.
There is a nice race in Night Sparkle this season and she is fancied by the yard.
3.35
NOBLE DYNASTY powered home from the front to win a hot handicap at Newmarket last time.
He has lots of pace for this trip and the second has franked the form by winning. This is his for the taking.
Witch Hunter ran a cracker when third in the Group 1 Lockinge and has form over this shorter trip too. He goes on any ground and looks the main threat.
Point Lynas fought off the challengers to score at York latest and is respected dropping back in distance.
It wouldn’t be the greatest shock to see last year’s winner Jumby bounce back from a run of poor efforts given we know trip and track are ideal.
Flight Plan has to give weight away but is proven in some hot contests and enjoys this trip. He’s another with place claims in an open race.
BEVERLEY
2.05
OVER SPICED may be under-rated after running a cracker to score at Leicester last time.
She showed a good cruising speed and picked up quickly to score going away.
The second and third from that race have come out and won since so the form looks decent and there’s more to come from Tom Clover’s filly.
Brazilian Belle didn’t have a lot to beat at Catterick last time but she did it nicely and trainer Michael Dods has won this race before.
Maw Lam has copped the prime stall one draw and she showed plenty of pace when winning on debut at Thirsk last time.
She’s proven on quick ground and is sure to flash out and try and make all.
Powerful Lady showed promise when a close fourth at Cork on debut and could take a major step forward from that.
Storm Call battled to the line when winning at Windsor and is another for the shortlist in what looks an open contest.
2.40
REGAL GEM looks the pick of those to have seen a racecourse before.
He bounced out of the stalls and pretty much made all to see off 15 rivals on debut at Pontefract. He didn’t have to hit top gear and should hold his own with improvement to come.
Newcomer Shareholder could be a big threat for big-spending Wathnan Racing. They shelled out almost £400,000 for this colt who has lots of winning two-year-olds in his family.
Trainer Karl Burke is in flying form, but taking short odds about an unraced colt – no matter how much they cost – is not my bag.
Moving Force showed a liking for track and trip when winninge on debut last month.
He clocked a decent time there and trainer Richard Fahey has won two of the past four runnings of this, including last season.
JM Jhingree got up on the line to win at Redcar and is a nice type but may lack the turn of foot of these on quick ground.
3.15
ZAPPHIRE had everything go wrong on her comeback from seven months off at Newcastle last time.
She had the door slammed in her face a couple of times and did well to finish just three lengths off the winner.
Her last turf run saw her win well at Haydock in August when this trip was right up her street. There’s room for improvement on her current handicap mark and she can go close.
Tropez Power has improved for dropping back to this distance and followed a Southwell win with a good fifth in strong company at York. He is off the same mark here with every chance.
Billyb seemed refreshed by a stable move when running well last time and has plummeted down the weights. He has solid place claims.
Eligible is another who has been running well in good company while On The River likes it here and is better than we saw at Nottingham last time.
