The NBA, like other leagues, relies on star power to get it though. But unlike other sports, stars in basketball have become more dominant than ever.
One player can completely take over a game at any time, giving the importance of having stars back to the teams. Over the course of history, we have seen plenty of star duos take form.
But which are the best as things currently stand? Here are the top five NBA duos following a wild trade deadline.
This one may be the most questionable on the list but the two have played very well together. They complement each other well and it has seen the Pacers find some real success on the court.
Indiana made the Eastern Conference Finals a year ago and they are currently a top-four team in the standings. The Pacers have the tools to be a sneaky team again this season, led by this star duo.
This duo would likely be ranked higher on the list but they have yet to play a game together. Following the blockbuster trade of Doncic to Los Angeles, the Lakers now have another star duo.
Theoretically, these two should dominate on the court together and it’s almost terrifying to imagine them running the offense together. Once they fully figure out how to play next to each other, it would be scary hours for the rest of the league.
The Thunder have taken a massive step forward and it’s mainly due to the play of these two stars. Both Gilgeous-Alexander and Williams have upped their games heavily and Oklahoma City now sits as the best team in the Western Conference.
Gilgeous-Alexander is on pace to win the NBA MVP award this season and Williams could be the Most Improved Player. The Thunder are one of the best teams in the NBA and both players are still very young.
Putting Lillard with Antetokounmpo was supposed to make Milwaukee instant title contenders, but it hasn’t been as seamless. The Bucks have had to battle through adversity to make this duo work but they are still incredible players.
Milwaukee has a lot of pressure on it this season but when they are right, this duo has what it takes to win it all. Both Antetokounmpo and Lillard can take over a game and that is exactly what the Bucks are counting on come playoff time.
The reigning NBA champions boast the best duo in the league and it’s not close. Tatum and Brown play off each well very well and it has created a dynamic offensive attack for Boston.
But what makes them so special is that both can also play defense at a high level. This gives the Celtics two stars on both ends of the court, helping them to claim the top spot.
