PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) – A Petal High School football assistant coach received some recent national attention for his work on the field.
Matt Holeman, who served as the Panthers offensive line coach and run game coordinator in 2023, was named a High School Broyles Award winner.
The annually awarded honor goes to each participating state’s top assistant as nominated by its high school coaching association.
Holeman has been a Petal football fixture for nearly the past two decades, having handled the Panthers up front on offense for the past 19 years.
In 2018, the Broyles Award added to a 25-year tradition of honoring the nation’s best collegiate assistant football coaches through the creation of the High School Broyles Award.
This award honors the top high school assistant football coach in every participating state, projecting excellence onto the national stage.
