The Youngstown State Football team is ranked No. 23 in the HERO Sports FCS Preseason Top 25 poll which was announced on Thursday. The Penguins are coming off an 8-5 campaign and an appearance in the 2023 FCS Playoffs as they prepare of the upcoming 2024 season.
YSU’s schedule is dotted with numerous preseason Top 25 teams including South Dakota State (No. 1), South Dakota (No. 5), Villanova (No. 6), Southern Illinois (No. 9) and Illinois State (No. 24). The Penguins also travel to ACC member Pittsburgh in September.
The Guins open the season at Villanova on Thursday, August 29. YSU lost to the Wildcats in the second round of the FCS Playoffs in Philadelphia last December.
