Srinagar, Jan 16(NVI): Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Central Kashmir, Rajiv Omprakash Pande, today urged the youth to embrace fitness as a proactive way to combat the growing drug menace in the Valley.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for a cycling expedition from Srinagar’s iconic Lal Chowk to Kanyakumari, DIG Pande highlighted how physical activity can transform lives and steer young people away from harmful habits. The expedition, he noted, not only promotes personal health but also advocates for a cleaner, greener India.
“Drug abuse is a major challenge among our youth, but adopting fitness can be a game-changer,” DIG Pande said. “When you commit to a fitness journey, negative habits like drug use naturally take a backseat. Fitness builds discipline, purpose, and a sense of accomplishment.”
He commended the cyclists for their determination, emphasizing that such initiatives inspire others to prioritize health and channel their energy positively. He also called on parents, teachers, and communities to encourage the younger generation to engage in activities like cycling and sports to lead healthier, drug-free lives.
