The Patriots will have plenty of cash to burn this offseason — and this time we fully expect them to do it.
The NFL sent a memo to teams Wednesday, informing them that the per-team salary cap will fall in the range of $277.5 million to $281.5 million, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN. The NFL saw an increase in the cap by more than $53 million over the last two years, with last year’s cap coming in at $255.4 million.
Yes, that’s an insane amount of money.
New England is likely to be the main beneficiary of the jump, as the expectation is it will have between $131.19 million and $135.19 million in cap space this offseason — the most of any team. The NFLPA still has to decide on a prior deferral, which is why a final number isn’t set.
The Las Vegas Raiders, Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Chargers and Chicago Bears will round out the top five.
