Portuguese golf resort Onyria Quinta da Marinha has been honoured with the title of ‘Best Hotel Resort’ at the 2024 Tourism Leaders Awards.
Organised by leading tourism publication TNews – in conjunction with the Nova SBE Westmont Institute of Tourism & Hospitality – the awards are a celebration of excellence across Portuguese travel. A panel of industry experts combined with an online public vote to determine the winners, who were unveiled at a ceremony at Carcavelos’ Nova School of Business and Economics.
With two stunning hotels and a selection of picturesque villas, guests are never short of choice when it comes to accommodation at the popular resort, which is located in Cascais, 30km west of Lisbon.
Onyria Quinta da Marinha Hotel, which opened in 1999, was joined last year by the new Onyria Marinha Boutique Hotel just half a mile from the ocean. A stellar line-up of dining options and bars is headlined by Rocca, serving mouth-watering cuisine inspired by the traditional flavours of Portugal, and the revered Monte Mar seafood restaurant.
The award is also testament to the resort’s rich amenities and facilities, including the must-play golf course designed by one of golf’s most influential architects, the American Robert Trent Jones. The par-71 layout opened in 1984 and has played host to a number of professional tournaments including the 2002 PGA Seniors Tour Championship.
Meanwhile, the immersive Natur Spa offers the perfect way to unwind after a day exploring the resort and wider area. As well as indoor and outdoor swimming, expert therapists are on hand to offer an eclectic menu of treatments both new and old.
João Pinto Coelho, sales director at Onyria Quinta da Marinha, said: “In a category with so many exceptional candidates, it is an honour to be named ‘Best Hotel Resort’ at this year’s Tourism Leaders Awards.
“This was made possible by the hard work our entire team has put in to make Onyria Quinta da Marinha the best it can possibly be, particularly since the opening of the Onyria Marinha Boutique Hotel last year. We would like to thank TNews for this honour and are committed, as always, to continuing to improve.”
A short drive from Lisbon Airport, Onyria Quinta da Marinha is one of the crown jewels in the stunning seaside municipality of Cascais. Last year, investment across the board saw the venue rise into the top 30 of National Club Golfer’s ‘Top 100 Resorts in Continental Europe’.
