SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – The Notre Dame women’s basketball team is on the rise again in the Associated Press women’s basketball poll after bouncing back from back-to-back losses with two straight wins.
The Fighting Irish (7-2) moved up two spots from No. 10 to No. 8 in this week’s poll after picking up a huge overtime win at home over No. 4 Texas and a 31-point win on the road at Syracuse.
It was a much-needed bounce back for Notre Dame, who surprisingly lost back-to-back games in the Cayman Islands during the week of Thanksgiving.
The Irish have another top 10 showdown this Thursday, as rival UConn comes to South Bend. Tipoff against the undefeated No. 2 Huskies is set for 7 p.m. EST on ESPN.
As for other regional teams, Michigan State and Michigan both jumped in this week’s poll. The Wolverines (8-1) moved up three spots from No. 23 to No. 20 while the undefeated Spartans (9-0) jumped seven spots from No. 24 to No. 17
