Stay with us, now. Sure, the Rams just out-dueled the Bills 44-42. Yes, Puka Nacua looks like a machine. And yes, Los Angeles has won six of its past eight games. But the 49ers are the ones favored at home on Thursday Night Football, and they’re also the best bet of the week.
Brock Purdy looked damn good last week against the Bears, throwing for 325 yards and two TDs en route to a 38-13 stomp-down. George Kittle compiled 150 receiving yards. Jauan Jennings had 90 and two scores. Isaac Guerendo filled in admirably as the next running back up. The Niners D racked up seven sacks and limited Chicago to a meager 3.1 yards per play.
That last part is the real key. The Rams are just 3-3 on the road this season, and now they must face a defense that’s allowed the third-fewest total yards per game (298.5), the second-fewest YPG over its past three games (286.3), and the third-fewest yards per home game (273.1).
LA, meanwhile, has allowed over 365 YPG, nearly 375 yards per away game, and 31 points per game over its past three contests. You can’t be that soft defensively and expect to escape Levi’s Stadium with a victory. Kyle Shanahan’s squad has beaten Sean McVay in each of these teams’ past two meetings. Fire up the Niners to keep their playoff hopes alive.
SCORE PREDICTION: 49ers 28, Rams 24
Other Week 15 spreads worth a look: Commanders -7.5 at Saints (-110 on BetMGM); Mini-parlay: Chiefs -2.5 at Browns and Bengals -2.5 at Titans (shop around)
The Lions’ den has been cozy and warm all season, with Detroit going 6-1 at Ford Field. However, this fan base is about to get squirmy when MVP frontrunner Josh Allen and the Bills roll into town.
Buffalo is on a heater of epic magnitudes right now, winning six of its past seven games and putting up 33.1 points per game during that stretch. There seems to be nothing Allen can’t do on a football field right now, and the Bills will be hungry to get back in the winning column after a tough 44-42 loss to the Rams in LA.
Detroit barely got past the Packers and Bears the past two weeks, and Dan Campbell’s squad has four wins of three points or fewer over its past eight games. The Lions have lost far too many studs on defense to contain Allen and company. Look for Buffalo to storm the Field and emerge out of Motown with the upset.
FINAL SCORE PREDICTION: Bills 30, Lions 27
Other Week 15 moneylines to consider: Dolphins +130 at Texans (Caesars); Panthers -120 vs. Cowboys (Caesars)
Both these defenses have been phenomenal. The Eagles allow an average of 18 points per game on the season, and the Steelers allow 18.3. And this is just the seventh time these Keystone State squads have squared off since Y2K (the Eagles lead the series 4-3 since 2000).
You think Vic Fangio and Teryl Austin have solid game plans for this massive game, or what? Expect the best defensive battle of the 2024 season — this one’s for diehard fans of the sport of football. Pittsburgh outlasts Philadelphia in an instant classic.
FINAL SCORE PREDICTION: Steelers 23, Eagles 20 (don’t scoff, Eagles fans — your Birds just got held to 22 points at home against Carolina!)
Other strong Week 15 over/under bets: Patriots at Cardinals: UNDER 45.5 (-110 on BetMGM); Bucs at Chargers: UNDER 46.5 (-110 on Caesars); Colts at Broncos: UNDER 44 (shop around)
Props haven’t gone live yet on any of the books — that usually happens between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon — but we already know we’ll be targeting Cowboys lead back Dowdle on the player prop market.
The Panthers have been obliterated on the ground all season, to the point where opponents run more than they throw against them. It’s the game plan and blueprint to beat Carolina.
And with Dowdle averaging 99 rushing yards per game going into Monday Night Football, he’s the hottest Cowboy in Arlington. Find the Dowdle OVER with the most attractive odds and smash it.
