Some big names around the NFL could find new homes ahead of the 2024 Trade Deadline.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that several players could be moved at the deadline, including multiple from the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans.
Russini listed Panthers quarterback Bryce Young as well as wide receiver’s Diontae Johnson, Jonathan Mingo and Adam Thielen as potential targets. She also listed San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, Bears running back Khalil Herbert and defensive end Dom Robinson, Titans wide receivers Treylon Burks and DeAndre Hopkins as well as Cleveland Browns defensive end Za’Darius Smith as players being monitored by opposing teams.
The Panthers could be approaching a fire sale at 1-5. Johnson leads the team in receiving with 29 catches for 340 yards and three touchdowns. Mingo has 12 catches for 121 yards while Thielen has eight catches for 109 yards and a touchdown.
However, Young would be the most notable name as it would signal the team moving on from its 2023 No. 1 pick. Young was benched following the team’s 0-3 start and had thrown for 303 yards with zero touchdowns and three interceptions before the benching.
The 49ers would only move Samuel to save cap room and retain some value for the 2024 season. He has 20 catches for 335 yards and a touchdown thus far and could potentially return for the 2025 season as well.
The Bears could elect to move on from some spare parts as they prepare for a possible playoff run. Herbert has eight carries for 16 yards in 2024 but could potentially fill a bigger role for another team, while Robinson has not played yet in 2024.
The Titans have also had a rough start to the season at 1-4 and could look to recoup some value for some expendable receivers. Hopkins leads Tennessee with 14 catches for 175 yards and a touchdown and could be a solid option for a contending team needing a receiver. Burks had four catches for 34 yards and could be a buy-low bargain.
Smith has 16 tackles and three sacks in 2024 and could be a solid trade option for a team needing some pass-rush help.
The NFL Trade Deadline is set for Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. ET.
