One of the final rankings are here after one of the most eventual college basketball seasons in recent years.
Much like any other week, various shifts have taken place, especially around that top ten area. Clemson fell just short of reaching those ten best teams, which is still quite impressive considering they came into the month of February unranked.
The Tigers reached the poll for the first time when they upset No. 2 Duke.
Texas A&M did not have a good week, to say the least. They dropped ten spots from last week, going from No. 10 to No. 22.
St. John’s MBB Receives Highest Ranking In Over Three Decades
- Thanks to wins last week, the St. John’s men’s basketball team was named the Big East Conference regular-season champions, its first outright regular-season title since 1984-85.
- Another exciting moment for the Red Storm was gaining No. 6, ranking the program’s highest in 34 years.
- St. John’s have one final regular season game against Marquette before competing in the BIG EAST Tournament on March 12-15.
Other Regular Season Conference Winners
- Auburn men’s basketball won a blowout against Kentucky to clinch a share of the SEC conference championship.
- On March 3rd, Duke will compete against Wake Forest to secure another regular-season ACC title for the program.
- Michigan State is also in control of its destiny for a chance to win the Big Ten championship as they are at No. 8.
Things More Open Than Ever
- Only three teams were in the same spot that they were last week in these rankings (Auburn, Duke and Michigan State)
- With UConn not looking too good to win a third straight national championship, and based on how much the rankings have changed since the beginning of the season, this year’s champion could be anybody.
