The NBA All-Star Slam Dunk contest has been a showcase of athleticism and showboating at the NBA All-Star weekend. Some of the best dunkers have participated in this contest over the years and only one player has won it thrice, Nate Robinson in 2006, 2009 and 2010. To match or even make his own historic feat, Mac McClung will be part of the 2025 NBA All-Star dunk contest and will look to three-peat and become the second player ever to win three All-Star Slam Dunk contest.
The 6-foot-11 feet center, Dwight Howard’s superman dunk earned him the 2008 NBA All-Star slam dunk contest trophy. The center put on a superman cape and took off from just inside the free-throw line and threw the ball mid-air without even touching the rim, classic show of his athleticism.
Jason Richardson was no new customer to the dunk contest, putting up two dunks with a 50 score in the same contest and winning the 2003 NBA All-Star slam dunk contest. He drove from the baseline, caught the ball in mid-air and while in the air, Jason put the ball between his legs and threw down a one-handed reverse slam with his left hand.
Zach Lavine was part of the best dunk contest in the history of the All-Star weekend, his competitor, Aaron Gordon who pulled some of the best dunks of all-time. He needed something extra ordinary and did a between the legs from the free-throw line dunk to claim his authority and emerge victorious in the 2016 NBA All-Star slam dunk contest.
Vince Carter is one of the most iconic dunker of all-time and he proved it in 2000 by winning the NBA All-Star slam dunk contest. He smoothly dribbled into his takeoff, jumped, span a full 360 degrees in the mid-air and threw it down with insane power to wrap one of the most iconic moments in the dunk contest history.
Aaron Gordon’s under the legs “sit-down” is one of the best dunks of all-time and many players and people consider him robbed for not winning the 2016 dunk contest. He used the Orlando Magic’s mascot, jumped over the mascot, caught the ball in mid-air, brought it under both of his legs and slammed it home. Many people claim that it looked like he was sitting in mid-air.
