According to NFL Research, Membou is one of four offensive linemen ever to jump better than a 30-inch vertical and run a sub-5.00 40 at 315 pounds or heavier. Two other men on the list also happen to be two of the NFL’s best blockers currently: the 49ers’ Trent Williams and the Buccaneers’ Tristan Wirfs. That’s pretty good company.

The fourth man to hit those benchmarks was LSU’s Will Campbell this year, along with Membou. The 6-5 7/8, 315-pound Campbell ran a 40 time of 4.98 seconds, and his vertical (32 inches) and broad jump (9-foot-5) numbers were respectable, too.

Interestingly, a lot of discussion of Campbell has turned to his arm length. Campbell said he’s heard the short-arm complaint about him since high school, but now that he’s officially been measured with 32 5/8-inch arms (and a 77 3/8-inch wingspan), the question of whether he’ll be considered an offensive tackle in the NFL — where many teams have a 33-inch floor for the position — has been rekindled.

Campbell ranked eighth on Daniel Jeremiah’s most recent Top 50 list, and Membou came in at No. 18. But given Membou’s strong workout and Campbell’s disappointing measurements, there might be a debate brewing over which one has the best chance to claim OL1 honors in next month’s draft.
