Michigan State men’s basketball keeps winning and moving up in the national rankings.
The Spartans (14-2, 5-0 Big Ten), who are riding a nine-game winning streak, climbed four spots to No. 12 in the new AP Top 25 poll released on Monday. That was after thumping Washington 88-54 on Thursday and winning 78-68 at Northwestern on Sunday to extend the program’s longest winning streak in three years.
Michigan State is now the highest-ranked Big Ten team in the AP poll, ahead of No. 13 Oregon, No. 17 Purdue, No. 19 Illinois, No. 20 Michigan and No. 24 Wisconsin. The Spartans, who opened the season unranked, host Penn State (12-5, 2-4) on Wednesday (7:30 p.m., BTN) and Illinois (12-4, 4-2) on Sunday (Noon, CBS).
The Michigan State women’s basketball team dropped two spots to No. 22 in the new AP Top 25. They have a pair of road games this week, at Rutgers (8-9, 0-6) on Wednesday (7 p.m., BTN+) and Illinois (12-4, 2-3) on Sunday (3 p.m., BTN+).
