Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what an NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
The last five editions of this valuable mares’ chase (previously run as a series final) have been won by Venetia Williams, so her runner Lagonda needs to be taken very seriously off a career-low mark.
However, it’s a much deeper race this year, and the suggestion is former pointer/hunter chaser REGATTA DE BLANC, who was a good second at Ascot on her second start for Paul Nicholls and still has plenty of scope for progress. Harrys Hope (progressive) and Moonlit Potter (unexposed) also make significant appeal. Lady Balko is in terrific form but is very unlikely to enjoy an uncontested lead today.
A tight race in which cases can be made for all four. JAMES DU BERLAIS might be ideally suited by this intermediate trip over which he produced such a sterling effort when second under a hefty burden in last season’s Topham at Aintree. Iroko is a chaser going places and impossible to knock. Fil Dor’s season has started on the front foot and Gold Cup sixth Jungle Boogie is accustomed to running well fresh after his injury-affected career.
Jilaijone came clear with a progressive winner at Warwick last time and can run another big race, but he’s proving to be difficult to win with and this could go to MILLDAM, who was prolific on testing ground last season and could build on his recent reappearance run at Huntingdon. Admiralty House could also be in the mix.
An interesting sprint. The return to 6f should suit RHYTHM N HOOVES who is narrowly preferred to the thriving Mondammej. Royal Pleasure needs keeping an eye on in the betting back from a break.
