Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what an NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
This is a tight handicap, but the preference is for SECTARIUS, who has shown improvement since stepping up in trip for his new yard. The main danger is Kitty Furnival, who was denied a three-timer at Wolverhampton last time. Another to consider is No Surrender who was only beaten a head last time, and should win one of these.
With his jumping getting better as the race progressed on last month’s chase debut at Kempton, IBERICO LORD can make it 2-2 over fences. Western Zephyr was a creditable second in the Grade 2 Arkle Trial at Cheltenham last month, and is feared most, ahead of Chepstow winner Ryan’s Rocket.
Grade 2 novice hurdle winner PERSONAL AMBITION hinted when fourth in a good handicap chase at Newbury three weeks ago that he may improve for going right-handed over fences, so he earns the vote ahead of Johnnywho, who was third in a stronger Grade 2 than this at Newbury last time. Rare Edition and Mark Of Gold also have to be respected.
Preference is for DASHING PANTHER (nap), who made it 2-3 on AW when completing a Chelmsford double in emphatic style two weeks ago. He’s open to more progress on this step up to 2m and may be able to complete the hat-trick. The main threat could come from lightly raced 6yo Little Peter, who was a clear second behind a winner at Wolverhampton last time. Last month’s Newcastle runner-up Wickywickywheels also enters the reckoning along with handicap newcomer Emaculate Soldier.
