With the North Dakota State Fair (NDSF) being in Minot, the celebration started with the NDSF 5K fun run on Saturday, July 20, started at the South Hills Softball complex and ended at the State Fairgrounds. The start time was 8:45 a.m. and the event had 420 participants from all over North Dakota and other states.
In the men’s section, Minot local Jacob Jensen finished in first place with an overall time of 15:36.36 while Bismarck runner Holter Bridwell was second by 20 seconds at a 15:56.86 mark. Minot runner Casey McMahon finished with a 16:16.65 mark for third place. Camden Jasmin from Williston was fourth with a 16:23.40 time while Dallin Chapman from Minot Air Force Base rounded out the top five with a 16:44.88 time.
Des Lacs-Burlington phenom, Brynn Hanson won first place for the women and was 29th overall with a time of 19:09.11 while Anna Peterson from Bowbells was second with a 19:12.03 time. Bellow Bowbells athlete, Sarah Peterson was third with a time of 19:16.87 and Minot runner Olivia Brown was fourth with a 19:22.54 mark. Kellie Meyer from Minot posted a time of 19:36.64 to round out the top five women.
In the mixed category of racers 12 to 16, Jack Elsberry of Bismarck was sixth overall with a time of 16:50.58 while Bracston Kaufman, also of Bismarck, was seventh at 17:00.96 at the finish line. Hayden Anderson continued the Bismarck trend with a 17:14.34 time for ninth overall while Zachary Eberle of Bismarck was 14th overall with a 17:36.39 time. Bismarck runner Deven Rels rounded out the top five in the age bracket and was 18th overall with a time of 17:54.73 finish time.
In the mixed category of racers up to 11 years old, girl’s M Berg was 45th overall and first in the age bracket. Boy’s M Faul of Minot was 79th overall and second in the age bracket. Minot participant boy’s K Kelly was 86th overall, girl’s K Tollefson was 127th and boy’s L Braunbberger was 149th overall for the top five in the mixed age bracket.
