Cochrane’s own Fisher Kilpatrick has been nominated for the prestigious High School All-Canadian Games team, which recognizes the top high school basketball players in Canada.
Kilpatrick, a Grade 12 student at Edge School, competes at an elite level in the CJBL league in Toronto as captain of his team.
“It means everything to me,” he says. “It’s a testament to the last four years of work I’ve put into basketball, and to be recognized on a national scale is really important to me.”
The All-Canadian Games showcases the country’s best basketball talent.
“The game consists of the top 24 high school players in Canada, including post-grad athletes, and to be nominated as a Grade 12 really means a lot to me.”
Kilpatrick has a decorated basketball career, having represented Team Alberta in 2024. He has also competed in elite tournaments in the U.S. against some of the best players in his age group.
The nomination process is highly competitive, with scouts and coaches selecting the top players.
“I must have been scouted during one of our trips to Toronto,” Kilpatrick says. “I’m not sure what the next steps are yet, but I’m looking forward to finding out.”
His success extends beyond the court. He maintains a 4.0 GPA and received the President’s Award at the University of Calgary for academic excellence. He has been offered placement in the neuroscience program for fall 2025.
“I want to play university basketball and, if given the opportunity, go pro for a couple of years. Ultimately, I hope to become a doctor,” he says.
Kilpatrick now has to wait on word on if he makes the final roster for the All-Canadian Games team.
“I just love the game, and I’m excited to see where this opportunity takes me.”
