KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – After more than a decade of absence, the college football world is buzzing for the return of a college football video game.
On Friday, that excitement was fueled by EA Sports, which released the top 25 teams by overall power rankings in EA Sports College Football 25.
As part of what EA is calling “Rankings Week,” the video game makers released the top 25 teams in the country based on overall rankings. Notably, Kansas was included.
Kansas was rated an 87 overall and comes in as the nation’s 22nd-best team. Earlier in the week, EA rated the Jayhawks offense as the 14th-best in the game. KU’s ranking follows a 9-4 season and a win in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl over UNLV.
Despite a Cotton Bowl title in December and the nation’s ninth-best offense according to the video game makers, Mizzou did not rank as one of the 25 best teams in the game. Neither did K-State, despite being the favorite to win the Big 12 according to oddsmakers.
EA Sports College Football 25 launches worldwide July 19. The Jayhawks open the 2024 football season Thursday, Aug. 29, against Lindenwood at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas.
