Can you believe it? This will be the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby! I can’t say that I’ve been around for all 150, but I’ve bet on over 40 of them.
This year, my top selection is Forever Young, a Japanese colt shipping in from Dubai, where he won the UAE Derby. Although this horse has won five straight in five attempts, that’s not the main reason I’ve selected him. What I like most are his numbers for the last two races, which are as good as any horse in the field, and hoping for another move forward. He certainly has to overcome the shipping overseas aspect and that he doesn’t like dirt in his face, but that’s why he’s 10-1 on the morning line.
I also like the consistent and improving Sierra Leone, who has pretty much done nothing wrong in four starts with three wins and a second.
