INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Sports Corp’s 2050 vision outlines how city leaders plan to turn Indianapolis into a leading sports hub for the future.
Gerry Dick from Inside Indiana Business says that since the Indiana Sports Corp was established in 1979, many other sports commissions have been created.
Dick says that in addition to the sports commission’s goal of making Indianapolis a top sports destination, new sports venues are being built across the state, including near Fort Wayne.
“There’s a massive development east of Fort Wayne in the New Haven area in Northeast Indiana,” Dick told WIBC’s Tony Katz. “Mishawaka has a big facility going up for sports. I think you’re going to see an announcement from Northwest Indiana. We are seeing these venues pop up everywhere in Indiana.”

Since it started, ISC has brought over 500 major sports events to Indianapolis, resulting in more than $4 billion in spending.
The organization is now finalizing its 2050 Vision, which updates its 1979 mission to focus on hosting events and improving the infrastructure that supports the sports industry.
Dick credits Indianapolis with creating the sports industry where business can be established.
