As the boys high school basketball season progresses into the new year, teams across the state of Indiana rank as some of the nation’s best programs.
Greenfield-Central is the No. 1 squad in the Hoosier State this week, according to the Indiana On3 Composite Rankings, followed by nationally-ranked La Lumiere.
The On3 Composite High School Basketball Team Rankings is a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected High School media and data companies. It includes Massey, MaxPreps, ESPN and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced High School Team Ranking.
Here are the top 25 boys high school basketball teams in the updated Indiana On3 Composite Rankings.
Greenfield-Central is off to an 8-2 start this season with just under two months of regular season basketball yet to be played. The Cougars’ most notable win came against No. 19 New Palestine on Dec. 13. Their two losses are to No. 5 Lawrence North and No. 3 Fishers. Next up is a road tilt with No. 11 Mt. Vernon on Friday.
The home to two top-20 prospects in the 2025 recruiting class — Jalen Haralson and Darius Adams — La Lumiere has played a grueling national schedule. It has losses to IMG Academy (Fla.) — twice, Link Academy (Mo.), Owasso (Okla.) and Gonzaga (D.C.). The Lakers are 11-5 and are next scheduled to play against nationally-ranked Brewster Academy (N.H.) on Jan. 11.
Fishers is a perfect 12-0 through the first week of January as the Tigers look to repeat as state champions. Last time out, they beat Fort Wayne Wayne 62-56. Next up is a road game at Pike on Friday.
Cathedral lost two of its first three games of the 2024-25 season before rattling off eight consecutive wins. The last two games have been tight for the Fighting Irish — a 68-65 victory over St. Mary’s Prep (Mich.) and a 51-48 win over No. 10 Carmel. The Irish will play at Great Crossing (Ky.) on Jan. 11.
Lawrence North is 8-1 on the year, its lone loss coming on opening night at Indianapolis Crispus Attucks. In the new year, the Wildcats have beaten Marion and No. 6 Jeffersonville ahead of a matchup with No. 22 Warren Central on Friday.
Jeffersonville has struggled a bit against a difficult schedule, currently sitting at 6-5 on the season. It lost 70-64 to No. 5 Lawrence North last time out, but the Red Devils have still won two of the last three.
A perfect 7-0 on the year, Crown Point will play Michigan City on Friday night. The Bulldogs have not played a one-possession game in their last four appearances, last doing so on Dec. 14 against Fort Wayne Wayne.
Westfield is 7-1 with its lone loss coming by three points on the road at Zionsville. Since then, the Shamrocks have won six straight, most recently with a dominant road win at Marion. Westfield will be back in action Friday night against Yorktown before facing No. 10 Carmel on Saturday.
Ben Davis made it to the state title last season before falling to Fishers. Now, the Giants are working to get over that hump. They are 8-2 with seven straight wins since Dec. 13. North Central is on deck Friday night.
Carmel is 6-3 and needs to bounce back after suffering back-to-back losses against Evansville Reitz and Cathedral. It will aim to do so against Marion on Friday night before having to face No. 8 Westfield on Saturday.
